Chai hot chocolate doughnuts

To celebrate the launch of Naturya’s new Superfood range they have put together the best vegan chocolate recipes to try during Veganuary and beyond!

Chai hot chocolate doughnuts (by Naturya ambassador Neleta Winter, BSc Hons dipION mBANT CNHC Nutritional Practitioner).

Naturya have just announced a line-up of 20 new complete and convenient superfoods that can be enjoyed for breakfast, lunch, snacking, baking, desserts, and drinks. Ingredients

For the doughnuts:

90 g oat flour

25 g Naturya Cacao+ powder

1 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp bicarbonate of soda

2 tbsp Naturya coconut sugar

70 ml maple syrup

1 tsp chai spice

1 ripe banana (mashed)

60 ml oat milk

60 g plain plant-based yoghurt

3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil

1 tsp apple cider vinegar

For the glaze:

50 g dark chocolate

1/2 tsp chai spice

Pre heat the oven to 180°C fan and lightly grease a doughnut pan.

In a bowl, add the oat flour, Cacao+ powder, baking powder, bicarbonate of soda, and coconut sugar, and mix together

Mash the banana in a separate bowl, then add it to the dry mixture along with the milk, yoghurt, extra virgin olive oil, maple syrup and apple cider vinegar and fold in gently.

Using a piping bag, pipe the mixture into the doughnut pan.

Pop into the oven for approximately 10-12 minutes until a skewed inserted comes out clean.

Remove from the oven and allow to cool.

Melt the dark chocolate and add a pinch of chai spice.

Dip the doughnuts into the chocolate coating the top and then sprinkle over some crushed walnuts to finish. Allow the top to harden and enjoy.
