Last week the All Party Parliementary Group for Vegetarianism and Veganism held a meeting on the topic: Planting Value in the Food System – what do we want the future of the food system to look like?

This came after the publication of a report from The Vegan Society – Planting Value in the Food System – which presents an ambitious but practical vision for a fully plant-based food system.

‘We were joined by the report’s author, Dr Alex Lockwood from the University of Sunderland, The Vegan Society’s CEO Louise Davies, Dr Helen Harwatt, a senior research fellow in the Energy, Environment and Resources programme at Chatham House and Alexandra Clarke, an advisor at Veg Capital.

Our meeting came just after the launch of Part 2 of the National Food Strategy yesterday morning. Our speakers discussed The Vegan Society’s new report, gave some initial reactions to the National Food Strategy and discussed some of the much needed policy interventions.

The recording begins with Chair of the VegAPPG Christina Rees MP introducing our topic.’
