The Animal Law Foundation reviewed nearly 50 producers and nine major supermarkets across the UK and found over 84 percent used misleading imagery of animals grazing outdoors in humane conditions. In reality most farmed animals live indoors in intensive systems. The report calls this “humane‑washing” and warns imagery misleads consumers about real conditions in slaughterhouses and factory farms. Researchers say accurate representation is essential for informed consumer choice and transparency in food marketing.
