Vegan NIBs: PETA urges end to livestock parade at Royal Highland Show

Campaigners from PETA called on the Royal Highland Show in Edinburgh to drop its traditional livestock parade, calling it cruel and outdated. Animals parade through loud and jeering crowds, causing stress. Instead PETA proposes a statue to honour the animals and promote plant based farming examples, like parading potatoes. The Show’s chairman said animal welfare is always monitored by vets and welfare groups and dismissed cruelty claims as misleading. The call highlighted growing pressure on events to shift away from animal displays.
