You might have seen their adverts on the London Underground. Project Slingshot shows Londoners accurate depictions of the moral atrocities committed by factory farming. Co-founded by Veganuary creator Mathew Glover, the campaign exposes the secrets of where animal products come from, industry lobbyists and lies which attest that cruel practices are “humane”.
As part of the campaign, famous names and faces have coined the phrase “I don’t buy it”, relating to both the incredulity of industry myths and an active choice not to buy products which require animal cruelty.
The famous voices of Project Slingshot:
Diane Morgan (Comedian and actor)
Sir Mark Rylance (Oscar-winning actor)
Paul, Mary, and Stella McCartney (Musicians and fashion designers)
Simon Amstell (Comedian and television presenter)
Dr Amir Khan (TV doctor and author)
Jen Brister & Shabaz Ali (Comedians)
Rutger Bregman (Author and historian)
Peter Singer (Philosopher and animal rights advocate)
The campaign has had massive outreach throughout the underground, with over approximately 750 ads in 206 tube stations and 2,200 tube carriages. The project has brought London’s attention to the atrocities of animal farming, in particular pigs and chickens.
